Volume Treatments
As we age, gradual changes in facial volume and structure can affect the way our features look and feel.
Areas such as the cheeks, temples, lips, chin, jawline and around the mouth can experience changes in volume, support and definition over time.
Why Does Facial Volume Change?
Facial ageing is a complex process involving changes to the skin, fat compartments, muscle and underlying bone.
As we age, collagen and elastin production decreases, skin becomes less resilient and there can be changes in the distribution and volume of facial fat, as well as gradual changes to the underlying facial structure.
These changes can contribute to hollowing, loss of definition and the development or deepening of facial folds. Changes in facial support can also contribute to concerns such as jowling, flattening through the cheeks and a less defined jawline.
Genetics, lifestyle, sun exposure and other individual factors can also influence how facial ageing occurs.
Restoring Volume and Support
Where appropriate, volume restoration can be used to subtly enhance facial structure, restore support and improve definition.
Our approach is focused on maintaining your individual features and creating balanced, natural-looking results rather than changing the character of your face.
Treatment may involve addressing one or several areas depending on your individual anatomy, concerns and goals. Your Cosmetic Nurse will assess your facial structure and discuss whether volume treatment is appropriate for you during your consultation.
Areas We May Treat
Volume treatments may be considered for:
Cheeks - restoring support and definition
Lips - restoring or enhancing volume and definition
Peri-oral lines - softening fine lines around the mouth
Temples - addressing areas of hollowing
Chin - enhancing proportion and definition
Jawline - supporting definition and facial balance
Mouth corners - addressing volume changes around the mouth
Nasolabial folds - addressing structural support where appropriate
Pre-jowl area - supporting lower-face contour
Tear troughs - in carefully selected patients following an individual assessment
Not every area is suitable for treatment in every patient. Your Nurse will assess your anatomy and discuss the most appropriate approach for your individual needs.
What to Expect
Your appointment begins with a comprehensive consultation, including discussion of your concerns, medical history and treatment goals.
Following informed consent and, where appropriate, a prescription, baseline photographs will be taken and securely retained as part of your clinical records.
For more sensitive areas such as the lips and perioral region, topical anaesthetic may be applied prior to treatment to maximise your comfort. Other areas generally require little or no anaesthetic.
Your treatment will then be performed by your Cosmetic Nurse using an individualised approach based on your facial anatomy and treatment plan.

It is normal to experience some temporary effects following treatment, which may include:
Redness
